  • "See something" implies seeing some thing, some condition or some behavior that's unusual...out of place...unexpected...inappropriate, etc. But what that assumes is a certain level of familiarity with what IS usual...NOT out of place...NOT unexpected or NOT inappropriate.

    It's...

Wascaptain, I'm wondering if there isn't something that would make better use of your years of experience on the FD but within whatever limitations of the disability. Part-time fire inspector perhaps, fire spotter, or maybe something in the city/county Emergency Management agency (doing planning, coordinating...

Oh, I'm absolutely with you on that point. Something he said gave me the impression that he considered it insulting to be asked for references "at his age" so I'm not sure if it's whether he really has no references or just isn't inclined (or interested enough in the job) to provide them....

Cope, he said he fell off a roof fighting a fire after 25 years on the FD. I imagine he got a pretty good separation as he also said he didn't have to work. That explanation would be satisfactory. My only question if I was hiring him would be a doctor's statement regarding his disability and current...

Not sure what Ingio is referring to but sometimes people overlook or discount people as "references" either because they're not sure how to locate them, or because they think a reference has to be someone who has intimate knowledge about every aspect of their life.

    If you lived...

Surely you have neighbors? They can be great references even if you aren't personally friends with them. When I did LE backgrounds, we always talked with the applicant's neighbors because they know a lot about your lifestyle just from living next to you - loud parties, domestic disturbances, police...

Never had the need to ticket one. I'd sometimes idle nearby to see if anyone else around was "too interested" in the truck, hoping I'd get lucky, but it never happened. Of course, there were undoubtedly robbers by the tens of thousands that were scared away by the marked cruiser. You never...

Depends on how big the property is whether security can be expected to know all the residents by sight. Might also depend on whether a gate key is required to get to the pool or something like that if you see someone "tailgating" a resident going through the gate. Otherwise, it would just...

  • Missed this post earlier. I hope we don't see some unintended consequences from this - like increased violence toward LP people during apprehensions because shoplifters are facing tougher penalties.
