  • CD/DVD burner for DVR..

A friend of mine runs a small business and has a Dedicated Micros Digital Sprite DVR security setup. Unfortunetly this model is somewhat outdated and does not have an integrated cd\dvd burner. There is an SCSI port on the back of the DVR, and I was wondering if you need a specific model burner, or will any SCSI external burner work. He mentioned Plextors SCSI external dvd burner, buts its around $400. Also, does the DVR itself have an integrated burning software? If so, what format does it burn the files in (.avi, .mpeg etc..). This is all new to me, so I apologize if these are silly questions. Thanks for your help.

CD Options for the DS or DS2

The DS/DS2 has limited options for CD support. This is because it is not based on a PC platform but runs embedded software. Because it runs embedded software, the CD drivers must be installed in the DVR when the software is compiled.

The DVR supports a few different external CD devices but all have been discontinued. The mostly recently discontinued CD-RWs that we support are the Plextor 1210 and 4012. Customers have indicated to us that these CD-RWs are still available.

You can reach technical support at Dedicated Micros directly by calling 800-864-7539 or emailing us at [email protected]

Thanks for the information, much appreciated. Was wondering if you knew what file format the video files are encoded with, and once I burn the video to a cd will I be able to simply pop the cd into my computer and view them with Media Player, or some other video program. Once again, thanks for your help.
