We use intellex at my employer. When you view live in the 16 screen fromat or quad view the picture looks great. When you click on the screen to enlarge, your picture quality is reduced? Why is this/ I've tried to pause clips I've saved and enhance a facial shot and the results are not very good. Any idea's?

Does it get pixelated, like blocks? If so, its a digital zoom and its not doing it that well. Nothing you can do.

The Intellex you are likely viewing (unless it is an Ultra) is displaying video at 2 CIF (approx 320X240). When you try to expand the image to cover the full screen, the image degrades as there are not enough pixels.

To get the best video possible out of your Intellex make sure you are at 15 frames per second and the quality is highest (I think in that it is called fine in the Intellex menu).

Most DVRs use 2 CIF. Some of the newer boxes, including Intellex Ultra are at 4 CIF (640X480). Of course, the larger the image, the more storage space is required. The Intellex Ultra is a great DVR (at least it is at this stage in its young life)

Have you seen the Technologies from Isonics? They have "Smart" video solutions that use facial capture & recognition. Seen them at ISC East and it's awesome!

I have not seen them yet but will check them out online.

Video analytics are being integrated in many DVRs as a snap in component. Intellex now has a Mate and Object Video snap-in. Refinements are being made daily allowing systems to use less computing horsepower reducing capital costs.

Facial recognition is an interesting field. Some of my clients, mostly casinos, use them to ID known cheats and other miscreants!!
