  • Covert cameras in HD SDI or IP?

Has anyone come across a covert camera that comes in a motion detector or smoke detector housing or one that is chip sized, That is HD or IP ? I have a customer that wants to upgrade from an analog system to a HD-SDI or IP system, but he has several analog, covert cameras throughout his property. He wants to have the same quality with the hidden cameras.

I did see a few the other day on a site I was looking at:

I think this is what you are asking about.

    I hope I helped!

Where to Source Covert HD cctv or IP Cameras (Hidden Cameras)

Hi there, regarding your search for Covert IP or HDcctv security cameras I can likely shed some light for you.
Todd made some good suggestions and showed some nice samples for stand-alone units, but I believe you need an integrated system that allows centralized video recording, local and remote viewing of all cameras, basically just like any other modern video security system, but covert.

I believe you will have a tough time finding specifically those types of pre-made hidden cameras, from at least any major brand for the time being. However, I expect, if not already soon you will find some covert HDcctv (like HD-SDI, AHD, CVI, etc.) and potentially IP based Hidden Cameras coming out of Asia, at least from someone. Quality TBD. On a more positive note, there is already some covert IP Cameras available and more on the horizon from major brands. The only set back here is they are not pre-constructed as you need them that is hidden cameras in some object like a Motion Detector, Smoke Alarm, etc.

Check out these few options of well recognized brands. Some are available, some coming soon.

We provide a huge selection of security manufacturers and can assure good quality with the above brands.

Final Note: I would double check lighting conditions as most of these style cameras may not work well in dark areas.

          I perfer HD SDI :

Unlike high definition IP cameras, HD-SDI is a global standard so there are no compatibility issues. IP standards do vary across the market although ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is trying to setup IP standards, however many IP surveillance products fail to work with each other correctly where as HD-SDI has very few issues.

          Here are some of the key benefits if HD-SDI CCTV equipment;
          • Broadcast quality images - Up to 20 x better than SD analogue surveillance
          • Uses copper co-ax cable which provides a cost effective and easy upgrade path from analogue based systems
          • Because HD-SDI uses co-ax cable and BNC connectors it is very easy to install unlike IP installations which often require a good level of IT knowledge to install.
          • 100% Digital which provides less noise and interference when compared with analogue
          • It's a global standard, so there are no compatibility issues as there is with internet protocol products
Check out these few options of well recognized brands.
