Ok, how does this relate to the security industry? That's the threshold on stories posted here. Especially when you violate copyright of the news service by listing a complete news story, instead of citing a section and providing a link.

When someone runs a story, they have to pay a licensing fee. When you copy/paste an entire story, your basically stealing it for SecurityInfoWatch, which can get them in trouble for not paying the licensing fee.

WOW.. I wasn't looking for that response.

      Ok to be civil here.

1st this is the Off Topic (non-security issues) area am I right? That would mean this fits in this area and not the others.

2nd Like people don't post the entire article all the time. And I don't mean just on here. If you think its a major issue then by all means call the news station give them my IP and tell them come get me.

No need to jump all over me for posting this. So i take it by the tone of your post that this isn't a important news worthy issue then. Thats fine and I can delete it. But in all respect I think you jumped all over this a little too harshly.

The management of the forum has repeatedly warned that posting full news stories is a good way to have the forums removed. They won't go after you, they'll go after Cygnus Business Media because Cygnus Business Media knows better.

Officer.com won't allow it either, but they don't have the resources to prevent it as much. Tim Dees (The Editor-in-Chief of Officer.com) has brought the point up. Keep in mind that Officer.com is huge, and SIW is the red-headed step child - we get about a 10th of the users and ad revenue they do.

This place used to not even have forums, they didn't think they would generate revenue. Then they had forums for security integrators. After a few of us from the physical security sector started talking ... and someone made another forum, that person was brought on to brainstorm with Cygnus on how to create a more inclusive security guard forum. That's where we are now, with a bit more folks running around because of the slant towards physical security the forums have taken towards.

Hopefully, this turn hasn't alienated the security system integrators, since that's who 90% of the periodicals that Cygnus Security Group makes publications for, their "channel" for the group.

(I get all of Cygnus Security Group's channel periodicals, and they are very useful in learning about physical security (non-guard) and electronic security. To the average security worker, though, they're basically... good for lining a bird cage - totally not relevant. To the plant manager, they're essential, though.)

Dude a friendly note would have been sufficent but you took things and made a major deal out of it. I would have been happy to fix this up till the point where you made a great big deal out of it.

I think you are a tad paranoid. Its time to close this thread. If you had any tact whatso everyou would have said hey we don't allow this hear them PM'd me. But I dont see a mod tag next to your name. You jumped the gun and I don't appreciate it. I sent you a PM but apparenlty you are into calling people out on the board. Your coming off HARD and as a know it all. I don't appreciate it at all. There is always a better way of doing things.

              Thanks,

Now if admin or mods have a issue with this they can PM me which I would appreciate an explination of this rule if possible.

                Darrell:
Nathan is trying to save this forum from being jumped all over. When you were admitted to the forum, as I was, certain rules were posted and you agreed to follow them. Please live up to those promises made. They protect not only Cygnus Security Group but the rest of us. I hope you have found this forum educational as many of us have.
                Enjoy the day,
                Bill
