ValleyOne, during the Viet Nam War, Charlie set two USAF tank farms on fire and then attacked. Security Police "Safe-Side" members were burned beyond identification, some badly burned and some others mildly burned. I met two of the folks at Shaw AFB, SC and they told me they spend two years at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Several of their friends were discharged into the VA system with 100% disability. When I saw those two in the shower room, I was stunned. Having seen burned bodies as a result of traffic and aircraft accidents hardens one a bit, but the edge remains.
    Enjoy the day,
    Bill

Three of the guys I bummed around with were never officially recognized as among the dead, even the dog tags were melted. My wife was friends with one of the wives while we were stationed at Little Rock AFB, AR. She still gets emotional when she is looking through our pictures. They were both pregnant at the same time.

Bill do you know if that was the one at Cam Rahn Bay? I'm not for sure but it could have been an ammo dump at CRB. I remember hearing about one or the other going up there.
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A 911 CALL IS FOUR MINUTES
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .357 MAGNUM ROUND IS 1400 FEET PER SECOND?

Bill thanks very interesting. I am very familiar with JP4 as we used that in our Hueys. I'll open post this cause it may be of some interest to the younger guys although a little gross. We had what I like to refer to as luxury out houses. Like 10 holes on the enlisted side and 3 on the officer side. I guess their S### don't stink Any way under each hole was a 55 gallon drum cut in half with a handle welded on the side.

Each morning after everyone went to do their thing some poor slob would have to pull out the full ones and replace them with empties. Pour 5 gallons of JP4 in each one and throw a match. Smoke could be seen for miles. The one time I had to do it I wore my gas mask and still felt like heaving from the smell. The end result was a small bunch of ashes that we buried. We never heard of the Ozone layer back then.
