And I was looking around and backing off slowly! Always talking to the moose ,be nice ,nice moose, and tugging dog back up the stairs. Problem was that moose didn't care if I was jabbering or not ,she and the dog were looking each other over, dog was thinking come get some ,moose was thinking try me ! ,I was thinking I hope I didn't lock myself out!

LMAO!!!!!!! Can I please have a spew alert next time?????

Spent a week in Algonquin Park http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/ just camping / paddling / fishing a couple of years back. Moose a plenty out in the lakes, and they are almost prehistoric looking in a setting like that.

ptbeast - that would be some morning breath

    Yikesssss!!!

I can honestly say that that I have never crossed paths with a moose or elk. I will admire then from a distance, with a fence between us.

Years ago, on my first backpacking trip to Alaska, I woke up one morning to find a bull moose standing right over me. It has wandered into camp. Let me tell you, not the ideal way to wake up in the morning!

A moose can be a very intimidating creature. Sounds like you have a brave dog!

started a topic When to back off!

    When to back off!

OK last night I went to take my dog to the pot at 2 am in the morning,I wasn't really watching for anything .But the dog stop and got in the stance of attack! As I look up I almost jump out of my skin! standing ten feet from me was A moose, now if you see something taller then you and weights a half ton! It is time to back off and give it room!

And hope she doesn't have a calf! Or your dead meat ,you and the dog!
Now I must amitt she forgot about peeing . Good news was I got her inside and the moose walk off and dog got to pee!
