    Course Synopsis:

The PPCT Spontaneous Knife Defense System is designed to meet the needs of students who are confronted by a spontaneous knife assault and unable to retrieve a weapon. It is based upon a realistic, yet highly aggressive, check-and-stun philosophy that employs gross motor skills that are compatible with the affects of survival stress. It reviews the fundamentals of basic knife systems; reviews the common grips, types of strokes, and lines of attack; and reviews defense strategies for both stalking assaults and spontaneous assaults inside the reactionary gap.

    Program length is 24 hours

    The PPCT Spontaneous Knife System

Research shows that a large percentage of edged weapon encounters are spontaneous, allowing an individual only empty hand options to deal with a deadly force threat. The PPCT Spontaneous Knife Defense System has been designed to meet the needs of police, corrections, security personnel and the civilian population. The training will begin with a comprehensive course on knife systems and tactical considerations surrounding these types of confrontations. . The second phase of training will focus on the PPCT Knife Defense techniques based on a realistic, yet highly aggressive check and stun philosophy. Once the skills of the course have been developed, participants will be assigned specific blocks of instruction they will need to present on the final day. In preparation for this, instruction will be offered in concepts of adult education, presentation skills, lesson planning, and delivery challenges. The final day has been separated to allow participants an opportunity to prepare and practice their presentations.

Please be advised that space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.

All non-sworn personnel will be required to be pre-approved and must be sponsored by their employing agency to enroll in this certification course.
