Dangers of electric car fires

Apparently lithium ion batteries burn differently; conventional fire extinquishers don't work on them. I've dealt with a few car fires in my time, so I'm glad the word is getting out. The problem with dumping so much water on them I imagine would be the clean up afterward. Another example of the law of unintended consequences.

A hazard to firefighters is people who own hybrids often remove any identifying hybrid badges and when a fire occurs emergency personnel aren't aware. On the Ford forums it's a popular topic.
