A Houston police officer shoots and kills a suspect he saw shooting at passing cars and who officials say wounded a security guard.
Officials tell us that at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, the unidentified male suspect attempted to enter Susana's Place Nite Club in the 6300 block of Telephone Road in southeast Houston and got into a scuffle with a security guard.
The suspect went to his car, retrieved a pistol and shot the security guard in the hand and leg, according to police.
Investigators tell us the suspect left the club and walked to the 7500 block of Bellfort Road where he began firing randomly at passing cars.
A Houston police officer was flagged down, arrived on scene and told the suspect to drop his weapon, according to officials.
Investigators say the suspect was running along a Houston street early Sunday, and was shooting at several cars. He continued firing and pointed his weapon at Officer Michael J. Glover. Police say Glover fired two shots as he saw the man preparing to shoot at an oncoming car.
Four cars were struck by the man's gunfire.
The suspect was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died.
The security guard, who was shot twice, is expected to survive from his wounds.
