FREMONT _ A 27-year-old man could face felony charges today after he bit a security guard on the arm as he tried to evade arrest for stealing DVDs from a local big box retail store, police said.
Pomona resident Michael Kim has been arrested on suspicion on three crimes, including robbery and battery, Detective Bill Veteran said. He could be arraigned as early as today.
Loss-prevention employees for Target at The Hub shopping center watched a man, identified later as Kim, stuff seven DVDs into his pants about 11:30 a.m. Monday and then leave the store, Veteran said.
When security guards tried to arrest Kim in the parking lot, Kim tussled with one of them and bit a guard on the left arm, the detective said. The guard's injuries were not serious, but his arm was bleeding when officers arrived, Veteran said.
The guards eventually detained Kim and found him in possession of the DVDs, which included popular titles such as Ratatouille, The Simpsons, Apocalypto and Superbad.
