A Reno man was arrested early Tuesday after two people, including a security guard, were shot outside an East Fourth Street bar, police said.
Leonel Castro, 21, was booked on suspicion of two counts of battery with a deadly weapon, the Reno Police Department reported.
Two groups of men got into an argument about 2:50 a.m. at the El Patron Bar at 1483 E. Fourth St., police said. One of the groups got into a vehicle and as they drove from the parking lot, one of the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots from a large caliber handgun toward another group outside the north entrance to the bar, police said.
Bullets struck one person twice in the leg, and a security guard was shot in the arm, police said. Both were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for nonlife-threatening injuries.
A Reno Police Department K-9 officer was less than a block away when the shots were fired and stopped the suspect vehicle, police said. The regional gang unit interviewed three males, and Castro was arrested.
Police said the shooting appears to be gang-related and an investigation continues.
