Very sad news. Condolences to Tessier's family and colleagues on the force.

Now, Canada...find some cajones and FRY THE PERPS! (We know you won't, though. It's much more civilized to let your cops get killed instead. )

UPDATE: The person who shot the Officer was found NOT GUILTY of murder last year. His defense was that he did not know the people breaking into his home were police.

He was also charged with possession of illegal weapons. He plead guilty to these charges. Today in court the Crown & Defense have suggested to the judge a sentence of 20 months.

Apparenlty he plans to return to his native Greece after completing whatever sentence he receives.

To think a one time Canada would only allow "professionals" in the country.

Some one should pay for putting a "brand new" officer (a former engineer) on a drug raid (IMO).

that was one of the problems with the raid. Laval is the 2nd largest city in Quebec & has it's own police force but does not have a Swat team, they call on the Sureté du Québec. This raid took place in another jurisidiction without Swat trained members.

Wonder if their SWAT teams are armed.

No need for anything like that because no one in Canada is allowed to have guns or sharp objects - they might hurt themselves or poke their eye out. So, how much damage could a criminal do with a wooden spoon?

He was sentenced today for the weapons charges. 20 months. With time served he will be out in 16.

Wow. Canada seems like a great place to be a criminal, although we've got some U.S. jurisdictions that probably would have given him something similar.

Really? He was charged with having weapons in his home. Is that a crime in the US?

It is a crime in some cities in the state of Illinois

The politicians in Illinois are pretty much corrupt and know that they can keep their job by voting against the law abiding citizen from defending him/her self and or others. Soon Congress will enact legislation banning excessive purchasing of ammunition. They found out that the SCOTUS upheld the 2nd Ammendment, but does not restrict POS Representatives from restricting the ammount and or type of ammunition that can be purchased.
