It wasn’t quite midnight when gunshots went off inside the Rendezvous Phase III bar in Homewood, creating a scene similar to one that unfolded there last year — when a different gunman opened fire, killing one man and wounding four others.

This time, police said, the suspect is a man with a history of assaulting or running from law enforcement officers. His name is Harvey Scott. He is 26, from Lincoln-Lemington, and was out on bail while he awaited trial on an attempted homicide charge.
The victim, 24-year-old Deion Nesbitt, was a security guard, a “gentle giant” who stood 6 feet 5 inches tall and told friends and family he wanted to protect Homewood residents.
