With all due respect for the officer involved, this really isn't a line-of-duty death.

The S/O was on duty, went to the aid of a robbery victim just down the street from where he worked, and it's not "a line of duty death"? Heck, they count police off duty deaths as occupational related!!!

While I understand the guard's actions and feel bad he was killed, he didn't do it "on duty" nor was it occupationally-related. His duties as a non-sworn guard would be to perform guard duties for the company/client he was working for. Unless his post orders or other sources said that his job involved assisting others outside of the company's premises he would not be expected to respond to something that happened off property.
