    California: Looking for work

Although I am also fairly new to this forum, my perception is that most members are on the provider side of the aisle i.e. officers, supervisors, managers, owners, etc. I have seen a couple of client types, but that about it.

What other methods are you using to market your company?

I was of the opinion this was an attempt at a recruitment ad. But, I see your point. The forum is generally marketed to readers of SIW and its publications - the alarm and physical security integrators.

Hopefully the search engines index this person's post, and make it slightly easier to find them. The GIF, of course, won't be indexed.

I'm more of the opinion they're running a security academy with self-sponsored currilicium.

I would have to guess that also, although they could have no academy and are just saying "Academy Trained" for sales. California compaines have done worse.

I noticed that they have not answered the "Academy trained" question yet. I bet their "Academy" was the 64-hour P.C. 832 course, which has already been described elsewhere on this forum. I took a look at their website and almost laughed out loud! Totally a wanna-be-cop outfit!!!! Just look at the photos of their patrol car and their uniforms.

Their uniforms are almost identical to those worn by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, who patrols the city of Rancho Cucamonga, where this outfit has their office. The only major difference I can see is that the security guards have a California flag patch sewn over their right breast pocket, while SBSD deputies have an American flag patch.

Also, the last I knew BSIS would not allow private patrol operators to use "California" has part of their company name. That might have changed, but I am beginning to wonder if these jokers even have a PPO. I am tempted to send a complaint to BSIS and SBSD.

Now you made me want to click...

Why are they all unarmed? They look like jail deputies. Is having the California flag on your uniform legal, btw? I know in Florida, you cannot have anything with the Great Seal of Florida, including the flag, on your person or correspondence.

In WI, we can use the Great Seal of Wisconsin. Doesn't mean I want to go putting Wisconsin flags on my uniforms, though.

you're kidding yourself if you actually think this person is going to return. "guard" is obviously posting company info anywhere, and everywhere they can for marketing purposes. Take a look at the last time they logged in... it was when they made the original posts. If you are bored, google "california special patrol" and you will see this person has been busy the last few weeks posting the same message all over the internet.

If that's the extent of their marketing strategy, they have a problem!

They have several problems. Their website looks like it was put together in frontpage, and makes them sound like an unarmed warm body company. THey provide detector wand services! But they look like cops.

I'm not sure what they're trying to be.

Yeah, but the wrong kind of attention.

Use of the California flag is OK, although I have never seen any other security company use it. If they use a flag at all, it is the U.S. flag. Security companies cannot use the California state seal on their badges or patches.

California law also forbids security companies from using certain words and phrases in their names such as California, deputy, police, task force, and United States. There is a security company in San Diego County called "Rogers Police Patrol" that has been in business since the late 1940's, long before security companies were regulated in the state, so they were allowed to keep the word "police" in their name.

You are right, except we're not their potential clients. As someone else pointed out, they haven't responded to any questions posed by other forum members. Just another case of "Post and Run", I guess!
