  • Hospital Security Position in Wisconsin

    The Security Officer is responsible for providing security services and customer service. This includes maintaining a safe environment by conducting patrols, responding to calls for service, and providing assistance to patients, visitors and staff. Responds to and gains control of confrontational/combative/disorderly situations and/or individuals on site. Security Officer responsibilities occur in a number of areas at the hospital or clinic and may include outlying buildings and possible support to regional facilities


    Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Valid Drivers License with fewer than three moving violations or motor vehicle accidents within the previous 36 months.

    Post secondary degree in public safety discipline, or equivalent experience, preferred.
    Two years healthcare security, law enforcement, or relevant military experience, preferred.
    Certification by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB), International Association of Hospital Safety and Security (IAHSS), International Foundation of Protection Officers (IFPO), or American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS),preferred.

    FEMA Certification in Incident Command System, preferred.

    Current BLS, First Responder, or EMT Certification, preferred.

    Knowledge of investigative procedures, defense and arrest tactics (DAAT), patrol techniques, and verbal de-escalation techniques, preferred.

    Skills Needed:
    Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

    Pleasant, courteous, professional and friendly manner and appearance.

    Ability to effectively use standard computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).

    Experience with industry specific computer programs (access control, video surveillance, RFID infant security, and computerized report writing databases) preferred.

    Ability to restrain potentially violent individuals as demonstrated by previous experience or training.

    Demonstrated ability to remain calm and assume control of emergency situations.

    Ability to respond to medical emergencies and to provide initial care until medical personnel arrive on scene, preferably demonstrated by First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician certification.
