I have never heard of Tru-Spec as a handcuff manufacturer. I do know that Galls and Quartermaster Uniforms both have their own branded cuffs, so this could be another supply companies internal line. When I took over this department, the officers had been issued the Quartermaster handcuffs. While I was replacing their crappy cut-rate duty belts, I also replaced their cuffs with a known brand (Peerless). I also set forth a provision in the uniform policy that authorized S&W and Peerless handcuffs only.
It is my belief that the gear that will restrain a violent suspect should not be purchased from the lowest cost manufacturer with an unknown reputation and unverified quality. Both Smith & Wesson and Peerless have been manufacturing handcuffs for a very long time and have earned a reputation for quality and reliability. My Peerless handcuffs are over 16 years old and work flawlessly... I know I can trust them.-Jedi-

Cuffing and OC spray should be trained minimal annually as every cuffing scenario is different. As OC is only permitted by police here, when I carried cuffs, it was a monthly refresher for 2 hours and the opportunity to discuss scenarios of injuries in cuffing etc or known faults with brands. My BOS brand cuffs were more expensive than S&W in 1993 when I bought them and still work fine but never been used apart from training. In states where Sally Soccer Mom can buy OC over the counter, there's no incentive for a company to train their employees in its use.
There's no legal requirement.
There's no real liability requirement other than "Use this only in self defense."
After all, there is no training requirement for Sally Soccer Mom to buy it.Some Kind of Commando Leader

yep, these cuffs are tru-spec. i have heard of clothes made by them, but not anything like this. i personally dont like them, they look like "play" cuffs, but they are thick and strong. but i do like the idea of s&w cuffs. i checked out a pair of peerless on ebay yesterday, they were up to $100!! cant swing that, but i will check around for s&w cuffs in the army-nay stores.
