Im confused... need some advice..

Long story short.. I left one company. due to some inter-office problems...
I have recently been offered employment with another company... however the boss at the one company wants to bring me back stating he wants me to work for he and doesnt want to lose me as im a valuable asset....

Now the new company... i got hired on with... i would be with them less then a week, should i take reconsideration to go back to the other company...

I have however, considered telling the one company, that i would come back if i were to be put into an office/adminstration position..

the one company is trying to tell me the other company is the worst company to work for.... however.... all the companies say that about each other out here...

so this is stressing to me. as i dont want to leave either companies but i must leave one.... Im not sure what to do......

Well, if the first company wants you back bad enough, tell them that you want at least $1/HR more over what you are getting paid by the new company.

Leave the fertiliser behind and if they wanted you back so much they would look at offering you a pay rise or more challenging position plus free coffee vouchers. I have walked from some companies only for the hiearchy to freak out when they found I had left their employment and come directly looking for me to return. I noted some new negotiating tools and we were all set again but often jealousy sets in amongst the ranks when someone gets 1 more lollipop than the next person. I would go to the new company with your head up high and leave the fertiliser in the old company behind you.

Generally speaking, I'd not reconsider the old company, but there may be reasons for doing so.

Ask yourself whether the reasons you left are so endemic to the prior company's systems, policies, way of doing business, etc., that your old manager really can't fix them for you, no matter how much he might want to.

Ask yourself whether there are opportunities in your new company that the old company can't match. (Is the new company growing faster, for instance?)

Ask yourself whether you like the assignments in your new position better than those in your old one.

Ask yourself whether the new organizaation seems to YOU (not what they SAY) to be a more professional operation than the old one. For instance, is the equipment more up-to-date? Do the management staff seem to have more knowledge? Is their training program better?

If the answer to ANY of the above questions is "YES", you should probably stay where you are.

This isn't a bad problem to have. You have a good amount of leverage here....see what you can get out of both companies pay wise and go from there. I wouldn't go back to the first employer unless there was a substantial pay raise and you got all of your problems cleared up first.

Yes this was an infamous global case about 9 years ago of unfair dismissal claim with an employee working 70 hours a week for a flat wage (couple of dollars / hr) and the manager (residential officer at a school) offered the employee free coffee vouchers to get them to return and void their unfair dismissal claims. I believe it came from the UK from some country estate.

I personally have only worked for one company on 2 different occasions. And before I did return, I talked with the manager about my concerns from the 1st stint with them. Plus, it doesn't hurt to weigh out your options with both places, let the previous job know how you feel and give 'em the "bottom line" as to what will keep you there! Aside from that, just use your best judgment...and good luck with whatever you decide

yeah i think my ideas have been to stick with the new company... but ... its so hard to say no to someone that you consider a friend.... so this makes it a bit rough, however I do feel if i were to go back to the old company that SOME of the problems would still exist. and in a few months i would be back in the same situation do to those whom are in middle management.... as there would be some anamosity. (sp?) amongst them, as before i left i stirred the beehive a little and some of those in middle management had gotten their necks in hot water....... so as of this point im leaning with the new company, but my husband is trying to convience me to go back to the old company... give them another chance... but i thinking i dont want to thanks for the advice guys. as it supports my beliefs!

Did you leave the previous company with any bad feelings?

Why did they let you go if they wanted you to stay so bad? They should have worked to keep you there before you left.

If the new company offers you better advancement, then I would stick with them. Let them know you have been offered your old position back, and if there is a raise involved, tell them that as well. Maybe they will match it.
