Need Advice from College Campus Officers

Hey guys. I'm applying for an armed position at a private university that has dorms.

Just looking for any advice about the job, or for the interview, from Campus Officers.

While I am not armed, I do work at a private college. The best advise that I can give to you is to be very proffesional in your duties. You should also know that you will be dealing with young people who have not yet discovered the way life is. They will try your patience and attempt to blame you for their wrongdoings. It is important that you as an officer do all that you can to create a trust between you and the students. At the same time you must be able to enforce the rules and keep the proffessors,staff and deans happy. It can be difficult at times, but I prefer this type of assignment instead of industrial security or mall security. I have experience in both of those. Good luck in your new job!!!!

I am a police officer at a Big Ten university (+100K students). We have campus secuirty and university police. PM me, if you would like. A lot more goes on then most realize. Your policing will not be limited to students.

Every job, every employer, every campus is different. I could give you advice about my College District, but the next college or university might do things way differently.

Best thing I can tell you, be yourself, that's what gets you the job lol.

I work as a non-sworn security officer for a private university police department in NC. I am a certified field training officer for my section plus I have helped interview final candidates for an opening that we recently had. In other words, I have sit on both sides of the table in the interview process.
