OR hit the nail on the head for this area.
"Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. I stand as an ordinary citizen. I have no right to; detain, interrogate or otherwise interfere with your personal property-... basically all that means is I'm a cop."-Officer Ernie

Here is the data for front line supervisors, It comes through kind of jumbled on the cut and paste, but the median supervisor pay for Minnesota is $22.42 an hour while the median supervisor pay for the US is $21.02 an hour:

As far as I know, majority of contract security in the Ottawa region is minimum wage so $8...

Though I have had some sites paying at $15 which is nice!

It varies wildly depending on company, location, duties...

I know some companies that do unarmed static/patrol, that pay 8-13 an hour. Armed seems to be 16-18 an hour starting, regardless of patrol or static...
Overmotivated and Underpaid... I'm a Security supervisors wet dream...

Very hard to say for California as it varies so much. I have worked armed for $8 per hour and I have worked armed for $33.04 per hour plus benefits. I will try and post averages that I have seen:

                  a) Unarmed-Static Post $8
                  b) Unarmed Patrol $10
                  c) Armed-Static Post $9
                  d) Armed-Patrol $11

Our site just lowered patrol pay because they cannot speak English or write English. And since those same people used to get the same pay as everyone else when coming in late, leaving early, and sleeping frequently; they will now probably lower everyone elses pay rate soon.

DDog, from reading your posts it sounds as though the account you are at really isn't doing it for you. It seems as though the sub par people you work with are really taking a toll on your morale.

I would suggest launching a full scale job hunt to find something that is a better fit.

Thanks, but its not that bad. Just an emotional roller coaster some times in our depressed FL county job market. Its exactly what I need right now, and I'm damn glad to have it.

It is working fine in my continually evolving 'plan', and is constant. The turnover in lower morale workers is just part of the character building aspects of this industry. Humility is good, and venting is healthy in doses.
