I did get out with a funny story though, my mother told me about it after the fact.
. My mom met up with an old firend she used to work me who knew me as a child. when the lady ask my mom how I was doing, she said "he's fine, he's at the Jail".
The lady said "oh I'm so sorry".. My mom laughed and said NO, not IN the Jail AT the jail, the WORKS there". My mom passed away last year but I can still here her telling that story.

I worked for 6 years as a Corrections Officer with the Lousiana Dept of Corrections. I became a Sergant after 6 months and got my EMT certification after about 4 years.
I worked in the dorms, I was assigned to the Hobby Shop for 3 years (watching inmates make belts and purses and such), I spend a couple of years in the education department watching inmates learn how to weld, repare freezers and refridgerators and other HVAC stuff and other VoTech stuff.
My last 6 months there I was a gun guard taking lines of inmates out to the fields every day to work in the gardens. Everyday I wore a .357 revolver on my belt and carried a Mini-14 rifle. I got a deep tan and a strained elbow from carrying that darn rifle every fracking day.
There I go pissing off the readers on dialup connections again.Hospital Security OfficerComment

Been in corrections now for 5 years. It's funny how one's careerpath goes. I remember way back when at the end of my enlistment in the Air Force that the Federal Bureau of Prisons was trying to hire soon to be ex - military. I said to myself, yeah right I'm all over this, NOT!!!! Being only 22 years old I had no intention whatsoever of locking myself in 8 hours a day or more for 5 days a week, but low and behold 17 years later that's exactly what I do now( sometimes for even 16 hours a day ) working at the County Prison near where I live and proud to do it.Comment
