Male security officer refused to engage the attacker hiding behind a pillar. Female security officer stepped out and exchanged shots with the assailant.

Was the male officer armed or unarmed? It apperars as though there were about 6 of each. Which begs the question - What church has 12 security officers on duty, even if they are volunteers, during sunday worship? My church contracts Securitas to come by between 10PM and 11PM to make sure the doors are locked and the alarm is set.

Licensed volunteers? Thats interesting. Must have different rules there. I didn't see in that article where it said what the other guards were doing. That does seem like a lot of security personnel for a church. Wonder if they've had threats, incidents, or what?

The last I had heard was that the shooter may have died of self inflicted wound (s). Now they are not sure that the SO put his lights out. We will see.

There was an interview with the female guard on CNN this morning. According to the CNN corespondent the guard is a retired police officer.

The good thing is that she is still a hero and won't have to live with shooters guilt that generally follows your first kill. What she did opened up a lot of eyes and is such a great boost for the rest of us.

She was fired from the Minneapolis PD for lying during an investigation ten years ago. A bus driver filed a complaint that she used foul language during an incident. She said that she didn't use foul language. The incident was video/audio recorded, and it showed that she did.

I wouldn't care if she was a member of the Manson family. What she did IMHO makes up for any past digressions she may have had. Hearing the guy on national news say that a Security Guard saved MANY lives gave me a smile and Goose bumps and a renewed pride in what we do. In fact I would go so far as to say I love that girl and would marry her and have many kids together. Ok maybe not that far.

I did not mean to come down on her. I just wanted the facts on the issue posted. I see the events that lead to her dismissal as a couple of mistakes in judgement. If she were to apply for a job with my security department, I would hire her in a minute. She is a hero.

I used to work with her shortly after she stopped working for MPD, we worked together at On Guard Security (now Wolf Protective Agency) back when it was owned by a U of M police officer. She is actually a really good person. I thought she looked familliar...
                            Apparently a HUGE cop wannabe...
