Suspects Arrested in Overnight Car Burglaries

Gene Kennedy reporting
Thieves broke into nine cars overnight at several apartment complexes in Murray. The suspects are behind bars, but now the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office has a quite a job on its hands.
Sheriff's deputies spent the day returning stolen stereos and sorting out who was victimized in all this.
In total, nine cars were burglarized in the area of 4100 South and 500 East. The crooks were after car stereos and other electrical equipment.
One of the thieves was staying with friends at Stonehedge Apartments in Murray. That complex was hit, as was another one nearby.
A security guard caught them in the act. "He was just making his rounds, spotted a couple suspicious males, and followed up on it. When he followed them around the property he noticed there were some windows broken," explained Mike Gunn, CEO of Metro Protective Agency. "My officer spotted them again hopping over the fence with some merchandise."
The security guard detained the two until deputies arrived. The sheriff's office arrested Hector Jimenez and Hector Sanchez-Garcia, both 19 years old.
Gunn showed Eyewitness News video of other vehicle burglaries in progress. He says there's been a rash of them lately at Murray apartment complexes. "The arrest they made at Stonehedge, we're trying to determine if it's connected in anyway, if it's the same people," Gunn said.
Right now, the two suspects are in jail just on suspicion of this morning's burglaries.
