Not really an acronym or abbr., but...
10-200 Drop dead gorgeous female
Of all people, it was a kiosk operator in my mall that pointed this out to me, he had used it with other Officers before my arrival; Apparently, he didn't know I was unaware of this particular code and one day said to me "10-200!", and I was like, "Huh? WTF?"
Until he explained it to me...

Some of ours have a contextual meaning... As in it depends on the context they are used in...
RP - Reporting Party OR Responsible Party
IR - Incident Report
AR - Alarm Reort
DAR - Daily Activity Report
DK - Drunk or...
HBD - Has Been Drinking
ETOH - Alcohol-As in "Medics are on scene [of the accident] and they advise ETOH is involved" (ETOH actualy means Alcohol-look it up)
RTF - Report To Follow
CT - Criminal Trespass Notice
Verbal CT - Same as ^^^ just verbally advised not given a written notice
MVA - Motor Vehicle Accident
LOL - Vacation/time off or pay increase request form
UTL - Unable To Locate
MIP - Minor In Possesion
X (not Xray) Is usually a Female, but in this County it's a SO Supervisor,,, Cpl and above.
POS - Piece Of Sh*t usualy referring to a vehicle ("'89 Buick 4dr blue POS")
OP - Observation Point. As in "I will set up OP at 5th and Dean to see if the vehicle drives by."
EDP - Emotionally Disturbed Person (Mental)
CLR - Clear/available...
Code 4 - Situation is under control / No further assitance needed. I worked for one company that discovered a LOT of bad guys knew what Code 4 meant, so they did it backwards they had a ten code, and anything other than the CORRECT phrase ("No, I'm good." or something like that) would bring the cavalry racing.
County over here uses a Code 4A (adam) - I'm OK for now, keep coming non-emergent.
That's about all I can think of for now...

Mr CORBIER, to answer your question, if this were 4th grade, I'd be raising my hand, answering, "I do, I do."
And the answer I'd be giving is that there are so many acronyms, used by so many different groups that have given their own meaning to the acronyms, that there maybe several different meanings to every one used. In other words, you may have your meaning for D.O.B., but to me it means Date of Birth. I use D.O.A. for Dead on Arrival. Does it mean something else to YOU.
Therefore, the obvious answer is never to use the initials of words in your posts and expect someone else to know what the heck you are talking about.
Just spell out the whole word and maybe we all can understand what your saying.
Do I get a passing grade on my answer?
