  • Funny thing happened on Wednesday

We recently had a lady drive her vehicle through our front door at the psych clinic i work in.
C.C.T.V footage shows her son getting out of the vehicle first and delivering some biscuits to our ward??????? Then she put the vehicle in first gear and drove straight into our 2 glass doors. She then attempted to turn around in an area about 4 metres x 2 metres. That didn't work, so she reversed all the way back out (about a 20 metre footpath) without touching a thing.
Police have now bought her into us for assessment.
I think she will be staying a while.

    P.S
    C.C.T.V footage is brilliant viewing

If I am correct in understanding that for some strange reason you prefer that people NOT drive into the lobby (Why? It's very convenient!), an architecturally-appropriate vehicle barricade might be a good investment as it sounds like the doors are fairly close to the drive and/or parking area.

I'm aware of a retailer in Northern NJ who had 2 incidents where customers drove through the same window in the same week. Cars went into the store - no one hurt in either incident.

I think barriers are the answer, but we are only 3 months away from the new ward opening.
Current ward has 26 care level 3 patients and 5 care level 2 patients, 4 nurses and 1 security officer.
New ward will be 40 bed, care level 3 and 8 bed, care level 2. But will have 0 security officers.
They will have H.S.A's. other words Health and security assistants. Basically Glorified cleaners, chasing the extra $2.50 per hour just for having a security licence. Sure they attend duresses but that's all they do as far as security goes.
How would you feel having a cleaner back you up? With no experience or training at all. Being paid $2.50 per hour.

Suggest the hospital or city, whichever, install vehicle bollards as a precaution against future incursions.

              Straight into the doors?

Maybe she just wanted a great parking spot.

Beats some of the guards I usually have to back me up.
