This thread is pretty straightforward. Just wondering, just as the title says, how many extra magazines (or speedloaders for those of you who carry revolvers) you carry with you. In addition to the eight rounds I carry in my duty weapon (7 in the mag plus one in the chamber) my holster has a magazine pouch, and I carry a double magazine pouch with two eight rounders. Altogether, that makes 32 rounds (which is not the most I've ever seen; I know a police officer who carries a .40 caliber Glock plus two double mag pouches, and all five magazines hold 15 rounds, for a total of 75 rounds; wow!).

As an LEO I carry my ammo in my mag and 2 extra mags of 12rnds. As an S/O I only carry one extra mag in my pocket."Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. I stand as an ordinary citizen. I have no right to; detain, interrogate or otherwise interfere with your personal property-... basically all that means is I'm a cop."-Officer Ernie

One can carry just so much with, ugh.. Speed loaders. My views, opinions and statements are my own. They are not of my company, affiliates or coworkers.
-Being bagger at Publix has more respect these days
-It's just a job kid deal with it
-The industry needs to do one of two things; stop fiddling with the thin line and go forward or go back to that way it was. A flashlight in one hand and your set of keys in the other

I customs, we carried 52 rounds, 2 17 rd. mags plus 18 in the gun
In New Orleans post Katrina, I carried 37, 2 12 rd mags plus 13 in the gun
In my Current Job, we carry 18, 2 speed loaders and 6 in the wheelgun.
One local security oficer I met in New Orleans carried 120 rds while working at his job, plus a 12 guage semi-auto shotgun. They had had more than one standoff with gang bangers post Katrina at his hospital, and the hospital knew they needed the firepower.
I wish my current employer would get with the times and get us some decent pistols, but they resent the cost and the training involved. Pitty is, we are 5 men short, with none in the pipeline, and 3 of the last 4 people hired failed the range. People just are not up to wheelgun shooting anymore.
hell, I nearly failed my first time at the range with this gun, and I have been shooting a revolver for 40 years. (Just not these revolvers!) (really bad revolvers.) (worn out revolvers.)

When I carry my .357, I carry 2 speed loaders for a total of 18 rounds.
When I carry my SW M&P 9mm I carry 18 in the gun and one extra 17 round mag for a total of 35 rounds.
With 18 shots in the gun, I wouldn't carry an extra magazine at all but company says I have to carry at least one."Striking terrific terror in the hearts of criminals everywhere" Since 1977.

I would suggest an standard approach like they have in the military, 1-day issue and 1-day resupply. Wheel gun, 18-rounds basic 1-day issue and 1-day resupply would equal 36 rounds. Six in the weapon and 12-reserve plus an additional 18-rounds.
Semi-automatics would be the same, capacity of magazine plus 1-round in battery and two additional magazines for basic issue. 1-day resupply would be three magazines for a grand total of six magazines one of which would be in the weapon.
Shotguns and rifles would follow the same configuration.
Enjoy the day,

Yeah we carry 18. 6 in the gun and 12 on the belt.
I just recently went armed. Well I got the promotion but am still waiting on my holster from the hospital. When I went to qual there was a guy from another company there who was there for his second go around at the class.
Before class started he was talking about how hard the written test was and that he almost failed it last time before failing the shooting. It was a 20 question test, I was done in just about 45 seconds. It was all common sense stuff.
Then we hit the range to go shoot. We are shooting from 7 yards for the most of the 50 rounds we shoot. This guy did not hit the 10 ring once. He had 7 or 8 off the sillouette. I could not believe it. The instructer walked by me and said, with barely looking at my target, you're good. He starts to go past the guy next to me and stops. Looks at him and says, "Did you even aim?"
So he will be back next month trying to qual again."You gotta look like Rico Suave, Think like Einstein and, only if that fails...fight like Tyson." -Dougo83's FTO
Me- "Should we call the police?" My FTO- "Justin, here, we are the police. Go get em."

10 in the gun none in the chamber
10 in belt mag
Some of you guys are carrying more ammo as a security guard then i did in Nam. Why? Are you expecting a war?If you are confident and a good shot all you will need is 1 unless there are two or more bad guys.
As for the guy that can't hit the target at 7 yards could be a couple reasons. A weak shooting eye or sights out of adjustments. One of you guys should offer to help him out. Hell with a little coaching he could be another Sgt York someday.THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A 911 CALL IS FOUR MINUTES
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .357 MAGNUM ROUND IS 1400 FEET PER SECOND?
