Just like combat in a war zone, just like a gun fight here at home, you just can't know until it happens.

That's why you train, train, train some more then train a little bit after that, then when you get sick and tired of training .....train some more.

what if the CEO went AWOL? I think it was something like a third of the New Orleans police force didn't report for duty, what would that say about security? Security typically doesn't become friends with one another because the guards dont have time to fraternize. No clubs or organizations or extracarriculars. Nothing similar except the uniform.

Excellent response Black Caesar. Some learned man once said about combat arms, "Sweat more now, bleed less later." We must keep uppermost in our minds the need for training and adaptability. Quality leadership is key. For some strange reason, we are hung up on management styles and leadership relegated to the back shelf.

Quite simply I'd refer back to the organisation's SOP, IIRC we're to co-ordinate & support local PD (as required)... hopefully my training, preparedness & equipment would allow me to do my best in the given situation...

I could understand a LEO/SO with a family staying home to protect them, especially if you consider the potential for riots, looting & general mayhem... could you really blame them? which would you place greater importance on, your children/partner or your client's premises?

Perhaps not in your organisation, but we usually 'catch up' with each other in the overlap between shifts (time/duties permitting)

Thats about what I would think to- I didn't mean still reporting to work, I meant trying to gather into groups for mutual protection and helping victims. We may not be police- but the uniforms can have a definite authoritative and re-assuring effect on people
