Yeah most retail store chains (Home Depot included) have code Adams in which the entire store halts and locks down until it is resolved.

Personally people I work around (college students) like me because I'm nice and even give them a few minutes to finish up if they are doing something in the computer lab. Also I don't break up vehicular make-out sessions as long as they keep their cloths on lol.

Let me get this straight. An amusement park person is authorized to cause a physical detention for a violation of an arbitrary code of conduct?

    Wow.

Thank god for this CA p.c. I know it's saved me a few times.

490.6. (a) A person employed by an amusement park may detain a
person for a reasonable time for the purpose of conducting an
investigation in a reasonable manner whenever the person employed by
the amusement park has probable cause to believe the person to be
detained is violating lawful amusement park rules.

    ...

    (c) In any civil action brought by any person resulting from a
detention or an arrest by a person employed by an amusement park, it
shall be a defense to that action that the amusement park employee
detaining or arresting the person had probable cause to believe that
the person was not following lawful amusement park rules and that the
amusement park employee acted reasonably under all the
    circumstances.

    code adam

When I was there, the entire facility got locked down. No one with a child was to leave. Of course, non-sworn personnel (the greeter) are directing this lock down which means that they have no legal authority to tell anyone to stay put, unless they're a suspected thief.
At the Wal-MArt in my hometown, they lock the doors down and call the PD. So they have sworn authority on-site within minutes.

BS. If this had happened the news media would have been all over it. Everybody with a cell phone camera would have been selling/giving copies to the news media. Sounds like hate monger reporting to me.

Some times it's better to error on the side of safety than to do nothing at all and then find yourself in deep doo do later because you did nothing at all.

Unverified Report: Guard Tries to Steal Baby

Consumerist (a "consumer advocacy" blog) has a new target to wage war on: Security personnel.

Now, this came from a myspace blog of all things, but illustrates the new problems that we're going to encounter more and more of. People who believe that all security guards believe themselves power-tripping Gods, and will want to "take them on," then write a blog about it and become e-famous.

In this event, a "wal-mart security guard" asked a woman to turn her baby over to him because of a "Code Adam."

99% of the comments on Consumerist advocated violence against the guard.

    http://consumerist.com/consumer/unla...aby-298694.php

With the rise of people like Brett Darrow, who was previously trolling Officer.com and subsequently banned, who go out of their way to setup and video tape police encounters till he finds one worthy of media release...

I expect it to happen to security based on the anger over Best Buy and Circuit City's "show me your receipt" policies. The people who have the most hate about this are 20 year old college students with the expendable income and time to instigate such things.
