On another thread we were talking about manditory id. Where you are located, what is valid id? Here some people think social insurance cards are. However the police computers in my area file the information by name & date of birth. Therefore any valid id here needs the date of birth on it. Since we have Medicare & it requires your Medicare card to get treatment in a hospital, most people have their medicare card with them. (It also contains a photo).

Driver's & Shooter's licenses, permits & Passports... additionally there is an Id card available from the State police called a 'keypass' obtainable through local Police Stations when supplied with appropriate proof of Id (usually younger people who don't have a driver's license) for a nominal fee"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give" - Winston Churchill

I dont know if we have any type of mandatory ID laws here... I go out into public all the time w/o carrying any form of ID."Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. I stand as an ordinary citizen. I have no right to; detain, interrogate or otherwise interfere with your personal property-... basically all that means is I'm a cop."-Officer Ernie

Most people don't know about mandatory ID laws. I found out when a deputy cited a 16 year old for not having ID on him.
There's over 1000 Florida Statutes, for example, and quite a few are criminal. Most people don't know about laws unless there's a huge campaign to educate the public. Some Kind of Commando Leader

I give hell to hotel front desk staff all the time for excepting Social Insurance cards. There is no picture, date of birth or address on them. As far as I know they are not recorded in the police data base either so are pretty useless as id. To sell liquor in CA the ID must:
1. Be valid from a State of Federal gov. / or passport
2. Have a picture
3. Birthdate
4. Name
5. Height and weight
The biggest mistake people make with IDs is not taking time to look at the picture. Ive sent my buddy (who is half black) into stores to buy stuff on my credit card and ID, no questions asked.

Reminds me of a guy I tossed from my nightclub, "old school" style, we threw him into the street. Then he gets up and squares off with the 3 of us while proclaiming "Im a lawyer! you can't do that!" At which point the head bouncer throws him on the ground and cuffs him. (The head bouncer hates lawyers... and has a very close relationship with the beat cops)Last edited by BoyInBlue; 09-05-2007, 06:46 PM.Police Officer

If a store posts a highly visable sign saying something like "we reserve the right to check your bags' have you not entered into some kind of contract with the store when you enter it. (I mean if a bounty hunter can enter your home....)I enforce rules and regulations, not laws.

I read this on Digg.
Basically, "people" are tired of being treated like "criminals," and are now seeking these situations out. Digg is full of malcontents and idiots (and the occasional funny internet meme), and they thrive off this stuff.
"THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY, I AM NOT A CRIMINAL, I'LL KICK THE ASS OF ANY RENT-A-COP WHO WANTS TO STOP ME."
Remember folks, the 11th of September, a general protest is scheduled where every wackjob, ya hoo, malcontent, and anarchist will subert any anti-government or anti-Bush or anti-whatever message into Random. Senseless. Violence.
Look at the bicycle rally that turned into a fight when the anarchists showed up. People are "tired" of "the Bush Police State," and they're galvanizing each other to TAKE ON THE MAN.
Everything has come to a head, its all about BUSH'S SHADOW POLICE or some crap. Some Kind of Commando Leader

Passports are not legal in CA for alcohol purchase. They do not list height and weight. They are however legal for gambling in CA. I work in a casino that sells alcohol. This somethimes makes it interesting as the waitresses assume we have checked ID's, even though we tell them not to serve alcohol unless they have checked personally.I do believe that in CA a police officer can detain someone for up to 72 hours, or until identity is confirmed, whichever is shorter, if they do not have ID. I do not think it is used very often.

most places here in AZ accept all state DLs and IDs, some require two forms of id if out of state, passports, and mexico federal electoral id cards. Some places will accept other mexico ids but its not smart because no way to tell if they are real or not.
here in AZ if you are over 18 you are technically required to carry id on you at all times but you will never see a cop cite or arrest for it.
when i ask for id I usually don't care what it is as long as it has their name and hopefully a birthdate. This is because I work around a lot of mexicans and illegals so I can never understand what the hell they are saying because they say both first and last names run together, can't pronounce v's/b's and a whole mess of things, and they are usually trying to talk fast so i don't understand.
