Yes, I wear the Galls brand body armor everytime I put on my uniform. It is also my Agency's policy. It is mandatory and required.

i currently wear a galls level IIA Lite Extended Level IIA with a soft trauma plate in the front which makes that area level III. I like it but I don't have much to compare it to. My old vest was all kevlar but was heavy, thick, and was only front and back. The galls covers front, back, and sides totally. My only complaint is I wish there was a trauma plate pouch on the back panal as well. Right now it looks like they have it for $250, but when I bought it, it was $280, the price of the level II now. If you are on a budget consider one of the galls options because they are just point blank vests with the galls name. They all pass the same standards anyways. BTW the actual vest looks nothing like the picture on galls. If cost is no problem then look into the Xtreme body armor by ABA or the safariland gold level vests. As long as it is one of the main brands such as ABA, safariland, point blank, paca, second chance then you won't have much to worry about. Just make sure it has the features you need. Also buy only new vests, nothing off ebay.

I had to dip in the secured storage area out back (read: garage) and pull out my expired Zero-G vest, as the new company I work for issued me a nice new "Paca" vest that's only about 4 sizes too small. I was also told I have essentially no chance of getting a new one, especially since this new company has..um...neglected to pay a few guys for about a month and a week now.

    You tracking Ryan?

I wear a GatorHawk in an over the shirt carrier. And, if people confuse me for anything it's a paramedic more often then I'm confused for a cop.

I wear a Level II to the nightclub religiously. But at my day job (transporting money) I do not.

I think people ask that to sound smart. As a Police Officer, our agency is maybe 15 commissioned personnel strong and our city consists of about 7000 people, I still get the same question. I usually answer "33".

I don't wear one now. However when I worked full time for AMR working mids in the city, I wore a safariland 3a. At the plant we were issued the level 4 tactical turtle shell.

    Here's what I wear

I forgot to mention that I wear a Point Blank level III vest with a front plate and a carrier similar to the one that is by the fine officers of the Gary Police Department. That's probably why I often get mistaken for a police officer.

    Hehe

I had been working Security for a couple years the 1st time that happened to me at the Federal Building. Before that job, I was either working for a security company that used soft (blazer and slacks) uniforms or for Wackenhut.
The Federal Contract Job was the 1st time I'd worn a Navy Blue police style uniform with a security company (with the word SECURITY in 4 different places, a blind man could see it), and every day someone would ask "what precinct you work" (funny because Dallas PD has Divisions, not Precincts) or some such. Every, freaking, day.

Irony of ironies, now I work in a Uniform that says POLICE in 4 different places (Back panel, 2 arm patches and the Badge) and now people ask me "what security company do you work for".... Damn it!

Welcome to the forum. Tattedupboy, there is a thread that dealt extensively with that subject.
    Enjoy the day,

I wear a Galls Level 2 Vest with Trauma plate. It goes on every time i am in uniform. I wear a black t-shirt under my armor. Yes i have been mistyaken for a police officer but this is due to our uniforms, gear and vehicles being similar.
