Hello, everyone. I'm new to this site and this is my first ever post. I was just wondering how many of you wear body armor. Also, do you wear it underneath your shirt, or on top? Also, has anyone ever mistaken you for a police officer because of your body armor? Finally, what type of armor carrier do you use?

I wear a Galls Level 2 Vest with Trauma plate. It goes on every time i am in uniform. I wear a black t-shirt under my armor. Yes i have been mistyaken for a police officer but this is due to our uniforms, gear and vehicles being similar.Robert

Ditto. People often mistake me as a police officer due to the uniform. The vest is concealment type and more than a few times I have been asked why I don't wear a vest. I simply smile and tap the trauma plate and they are amazed. When someone approaches you watch their eyes. Most times they see the gun and all the words security are lost on them. They start asking me if I know local cops by name.DOH! When wearing a cover shirt like if I have an appointment right after work all you see is the collars and the black T shirt. Two different times I have been asked if I was a member of the clergy. Must be my good looks and Irish charm.THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A 911 CALL IS FOUR MINUTES
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .357 MAGNUM ROUND IS 1400 FEET PER SECOND?

I had been working Security for a couple years the 1st time that happened to me at the Federal Building. Before that job, I was either working for a security company that used soft (blazer and slacks) uniforms or for Wackenhut.
The Federal Contract Job was the 1st time I'd worn a Navy Blue police style uniform with a security company (with the word SECURITY in 4 different places, a blind man could see it), and every day someone would ask "what precinct you work" (funny because Dallas PD has Divisions, not Precincts) or some such. Every, freaking, day.
Irony of ironies, now I work in a Uniform that says POLICE in 4 different places (Back panel, 2 arm patches and the Badge) and now people ask me "what security company do you work for".... Damn it!~Black Caesar~

I wear a Point Blank level 2.ATTN. SPECOPS AND GECKO45 my secret username is CIDDECEP and I am your S2. My authorization code is Six Wun Quebec Oscar Fife. Your presence here is tactically dangerous and compromises our overall mission parameter. Cease and desist all activity on this board. Our “enemies” are deft at computer hacking and may trace you back to our primary locale. You have forced me to compromise my situation to protect your vulnerable flank. This issue will be addressed later.

I had to dip in the secured storage area out back (read: garage) and pull out my expired Zero-G vest, as the new company I work for issued me a nice new "Paca" vest that's only about 4 sizes too small. I was also told I have essentially no chance of getting a new one, especially since this new company has..um...neglected to pay a few guys for about a month and a week now.

i currently wear a galls level IIA Lite Extended Level IIA with a soft trauma plate in the front which makes that area level III. I like it but I don't have much to compare it to. My old vest was all kevlar but was heavy, thick, and was only front and back. The galls covers front, back, and sides totally. My only complaint is I wish there was a trauma plate pouch on the back panal as well. Right now it looks like they have it for $250, but when I bought it, it was $280, the price of the level II now. If you are on a budget consider one of the galls options because they are just point blank vests with the galls name. They all pass the same standards anyways. BTW the actual vest looks nothing like the picture on galls. If cost is no problem then look into the Xtreme body armor by ABA or the safariland gold level vests. As long as it is one of the main brands such as ABA, safariland, point blank, paca, second chance then you won't have much to worry about. Just make sure it has the features you need. Also buy only new vests, nothing off ebay.

Yes, I wear the Galls brand body armor everytime I put on my uniform. It is also my Agency's policy. It is mandatory and required." Marshall
