Granted, we are only hearing one side of the story, that of the ex-security officer. But the Robbinsdale Police Officer's account dosen't add up. It just so happens he lives in Coon Rapids. He was off duty in his own vehicle. Not on some secret squirrel mission as the Robbinsdale Chief has said.
ATTN. SPECOPS AND GECKO45 my secret username is CIDDECEP and I am your S2. My authorization code is Six Wun Quebec Oscar Fife. Your presence here is tactically dangerous and compromises our overall mission parameter. Cease and desist all activity on this board. Our “enemies” are deft at computer hacking and may trace you back to our primary locale. You have forced me to compromise my situation to protect your vulnerable flank. This issue will be addressed later.

They have said that the officer was close to his house. But the reports have all said that he was on duty at the time. Just how far away are Robbinsdale and Coon Rapids? I would guess 15-20 minutes? I don't even think they are in the same county. The whole thing doesn't really add up yet. The Chief sure jumped in right away to defend his officer for just doing his job.

If the facts bear out that his officer was involved in a road rage incident and pulled a gun on a guy and his family, the chief is going to have to eat a little crow.

I hate to bring age and maturity into the discussion, but the cop is just 27. I have met plenty of young cops that have huge egos and think that they are 10 foot tall and bulletproof. I am not saying that this is the case in this instance. But, it is something that entered my mind.

Rosedale security guards charged in Mall theft
          BY SHANNON PRATHER
          Pioneer Press
Article Last Updated: 06/14/2007 04:17:29 PM CDT

Three Rosedale mall security guards who prosecutors allege padded their lifestyles by stealing more than $20,000 in cash and merchandise from stores they were paid to protect were slapped with criminal charges today.

Paul Thomas Fransen, 20, Corey Lewis Woodhams, 24, and Ryan Mitchell Schwerin, 20, were each charged with a variety of burglary and theft counts in Ramsey County District Court.

They trio stole dozens of household and clothing items, which police found in their apartments. They took picture frames and a pearl-handled knife from Things Remembered; clothing from Abercrombie & Fitch, cell phones from the Verizon store, perfumes and lotions from Bath & Body Works, kitchen appliances from Williams-Sonoma, according to court documents.

They also stole thousands of dollars of cash from store registers, the criminal complaint alleges.

Fransen told police he stole out of boredom, from being influenced by bad friends and out of a desire to have "nice stuff."

They'll make their first court appearance on July 20.

Actually, it seems all 3 have copped to the thefts and are cooperating fully with the authorities. A 4th guard was arrested but was let go without charges. There may still be more people charged pending the outcome of the investigation.

The mall needs to seriously look at upgrading their camera system. These guards were able to run amok even afters numerous after hours thefts from stores had been reported.
