Chucky, bull's-eye!!! It is unfortunate, but some poor, ignorant, stupid (not enough adjectives in the dictionary) soul will answer his question. OPSEC - little dab here and a little dab there and you have the whole picture.

i work with afew guys that have done plant security only thing i'm going say is they are only people in security and police that have the order to use dealy force at drop of a hat

Ok, Chucky and Bill you are wierd. I was just asking to see if anyother people are in the same boat as I am. Meaning that I work at a Nuclear Power Plant as Security.

Marshall, if you think that Chucky and Bill are wierd, or their statements are out there, then you do not have a good understanding of security. Your question was a question, however inocent your intent, that could be seen, in fact should be seen by security personnel, as fishing for holes in security at nuclear plants. You are new here and you are welcome, but we need to get to know you and your intent somewhat. Also, even if we believe you are completely above board, what we all post here is viewable by everyone in the world. from the first grader in Kansas City, to George Bush, to Osama Bin Laden. Just a reminder to be careful about what is posted. It could have serious implications if we violate the trust of those we protect.

I didn't think that I was asking for any nuclear secrets by asking if anyone worked at a power plant. If that makes me a bad officer then I guess I am then.

Marshall, nothing I said was intended as a put down. Just an explaination of Bill & Chucky's response. And a reminder to give a little more background as to why you are asking the question. Oh, and I don't work in a Nuke plant, I work in a casino. But I have friends who have worked in Nuke plants.

Marshall, after 50 years in this business I do not view myself, Chucky or Andy Taylor as weird. Are you familar with terms like OPSEC or "line item analysis?" If not, re-read Andy's post very carefully.

Marshall Since that is your first post as some of the others stated it smacked of a fishing post to me. Had you mentioned a little about the kind of security you do and a little about it then I may have tempered my reply. As for me being a little weird well I don't thing I am.

I'm glad to see that you have so much experience in the field but maybe it has made you a little paranoid.

Marshall, even paranoids have enemies. You and others develop a certain amount of paranoia having been injured both in the military and or security/law enforcement.
Now, in your new occupation, talk to your supervision about this subject. If truly interested, visit your closest employment and inquire about the nuclear security field.
Finally, when you have an appreciation of OPSEC you'll better understand our collective concerns.
