If security officers, by virtue of appropriate training, equipment, technology, etc. were seen by police officers as competent partners, I believe their attitudes about security officers being more "proactive" than just O&R might be different."Every betrayal begins with trust." - Brian Jacques

And the police don't always throw a fit when you take action, twice while working for private security companies I made arrests, and neither time did the Dallas Police give me any guff about it at all. I didn't even let them know I was a reserve at the time so it wasn't a case of good ole boy favoritism. One of the responding officers found out I was a reserve when we showed up at court for the 2nd guy's trial, the ADA mentioned it (that I reserved for a little town) in passing and he said to me "I didn't know you were police, why didn't you say something". I told him because it wasn't relevant right then.
It depends of the circuimstances (and whether or not the responding officers are biased or not), but in my experiance, if you do it right you probably won't catch any flak. Time and again I watched other S/Os do it wrong, then get mad and all defensive when the responding police told them so....Last edited by Black Caesar; 05-29-2007, 02:32 AM.~Black Caesar~
