  • whistle chains ....

I dont like um. but my boss requires me to dress my uniform with them. we carry nothing on the end. the are just for dress. i think they should not be worn unless u carry something on the end.. we are not allowed to carry anything on the end of our chain..

so do you were whistle chains ? are the required? do you wear anything on the chain ?

When I wear an actual uniform I typically have a silver whistle chain that runs from the button on my epaulet to the outside of my pocket. I also wear a whistle on said chain though. I wouldn't wear one if I didn't have a whistle attached to it, but I use my whistle a lot, especially whenever Im in traffic, when Im using the whistle it stays in my mouth, and it's nice to have the chain catch it if it falls out.

I, havent worn a whistle chain in years. Only time I, would is when I, was on a traffic detail back when I was a police explorer. I, keep a couple whistles in the door of my cruiser.

I wear a gold (I am a Sgt.) whistle chain with whistle on the end. I never know when I need to jump in a vehicle and assist with something traffic related.

Always wore a whistle on a chain.

One place I worked, it was required; we were UL certified for our alarms and response, and had to have a whistle for responding to alarms.

I started using a whistle chain back when I was an Explorer, and have kept doing so since. Good piece of equipment. Still I wouldnt use it if it didnt have a purpose other than blinginess.

I never carried a whistle, I used the whistle chain for my handcuff key.

In Florida unless on private property it is unlawful for security to do traffic control I believe. As for the whistle. It can be used as a garrote against you or someone can punch you in the chest and really mess up your day unless you have body armor. I keep it in my pants pocket like a pocket watch. When inspection rolls around we put on the hook and chain with hanger. I hate things that dangle from my uniform.

Use a silver chain and have an extra cuff key attached to it. It is an issued and required part of my uniform.

I think your boss is just pulling your chain.

I often carried a whistle while working as a Corrections Officer. We used them quite a bit at the prison. Never had a silver or gold chain. I only used the black, shoestring type lanyard. I still use it today with my security uniform. It blends with my black shirt.

Do these chains have an easily break apart section? Just thinking of your safety....

If anyone pulled on the chain hard enough, it would probably pop the button off your uniform.

Or simply snap the chain, my whistle chain broke one time because I got it caught on something.
