I worked as a security guard for 15 years. One of the first lessons I ever learned is security guards don't make decisions. They abide by their written post orders which they can prove OR they contact the supervisor and let the supervisor make the call and they document that they let the supervisor make the call.

Distributing handbills requires the prior written consent of Mall of America management.
So the guy had already been trespassed *TWICE* for soliciting and passing out hand bills without prior written consent, both of which are clear violations of the mall's rules and both of which the mall was well within their rights to enforce.
It appears that instead of simply asking the guy to leave in accordance with Mall policy the security guard made up his own mind he was just going to tell the guy to take off his shirt, which is now been videoed and is blowing up all over the internet.
Anybody want to bet that guard has already been fired?
