Posted this article because it mentions what other articles don't - these are not random events or "mass shooter" incidents, they are personal beefs or gang rivalries that play out at the mall. Seattle and Tacoma have had several of these over the last few years. I suspect part of the reason for the increase is the both the defund the police movement and that the country is slowly reopening during the (hopefully) waning pandemic.
I'm curious how other countries handle this. It is hard to have a plan (although every mall should), because whenever you have crowds of people there is a lack of control in an incident. Mall security is going to have to start taking their jobs seriously and get more training and equipment, as well as working with the local police more closely.
