  • Security patrols suspended after protesters interfere

A private security company has indefinitely suspended its nightly patrols of downtown Olympia after an encounter with protesters last weekend.

To put this in context, there are also a group of people suing the city about the illegal homeless camps. They want to remain anonymous for fear of being doxed or having protesters at their homes and businesses, and cited the suspended security patrols as evidence of threats to their safety. Olympia, WA is the location of Evergreen College, voted in one survey the most radical campus in the country, and probably the major source of bodies and dollars for the protest group.

The protesters recently got a boost from the 9th Circuit Court - which decided that sleeping is a basic human right / need. I agree with that - I haven't read the decision, but I'm curious how private property rights come into play. (I'm pretty sure I can't sleep on the White House lawn...)

Can’t sleep on private property. Can sleep anywhere else unless city provides a facility. Enforcement? Never going to happen. This country has abdicated to the left.

That appears to be the center of the issue - cities have to provide an alternative, or they cannot enforce vagrancy laws. That being said, the rights of private property owners have been so eroded, and Generation Z is so brain washed, that this is the result. It's a Catch 22 - if property owners try to enforce 'no trespassing' on or in their area, the suspects all cry foul and play the victim card, knowing business owners don't want negative press. If property owners call the an agent of the government for enforcement (the police), they can't do anything, because of the courts and leftist local politicians.

I recently had one guy state that he was refusing to leave because, "...this is public space and I'm an American citizen, and you're violating my rights." I explained to him (before we escorted him off) that it was private property and he was violating the owner's rights. Got him to be quiet for exactly 2 seconds.

These a** hole politicians who tell the business owners to f*** off, and are more interested in protecting scum, you know they would be calling the police if
        somebody invaded their homestead

Immigrant related melt downs...those come with fries?

I think the case is Boise vs US. Camping is protected unless an alternative site with services is provided.
