  • Russian spies, top tier "escorts" in Honey Pot operation in Silicon Valley hotel.

I applied but didn't follow through because the app process was a confusing PIA and sounded like they wanted you at their beck and call to meet with 1/2 dozen idiots, and the pay was nothing special. But I probably would've been a shoe in since I've worked around there for big shots and even went to school nearby. Obviously wouldn't be for your typical uncouth guard. They had an ad for guards running periodically for at least several months for the Sand Hill hotel.

Fellow worker at another site was (is???) working there but never pressed for details. Maybe I will now. Will report back if anything juicy.

Now I'm kinda kicking myself for not following my own advice, and not listening to that little voice inside my head.

My advice would be "Security tends to not pay that much itself, but you tend to meet lots of important people, and you never know where that might lead."

Here is how I'd be interrogating any suspected Russian spies at the hotel.

With the VIPs and their stuff around you gotta keep your eyes on Housekeeping staff, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNOWULGnH_8

Any guard who has ever worked at a motel or hotel (high priced or not) laughed at the line that the hotel "...does not tolerate illegal or immoral activity of any kind." Yeah, the common "wharf rat" prostitutes and drug dealers get kicked out before they get 5 feet into the lobby, or the minute there is a complaint; the ones that don't draw attention to themselves get away with it until they get banned later on.

High rollers that are renting the top floor suites and their "companions" are a completely different matter...

like my Accounting professor said "in business, the action is at the margins".

The "wharf rats" know they got no chance, and the top tier pros know they rule the place, but where is "the line"???

I'm guessing the less than top tier but well paid will be the ones to generously tip hotel staff to ensure they are welcome, and they never cause probs, then from their you got them that tip less and minor probs start to surface.

I'm thinking the "does not tolerate" is semi-legit. When stuff happens that would make me an "accessory prior to the fact" if a "room party" goes bad, that I can't tolerate. Just don't let me see or "know" about it.

Having worked security at hotels in the past , I can tell you that what is known to happen there and what is acted upon are 2 completely different things. At the end of the day their goal is to keep occupancy. Underage drinking, drugs, prostitution and other forms of vice are commonly given a pass to ensure that rooms are full. Things are only a problem when people complain and then minimal action is taken to remedy the situation.
