  • TX DPS nets security in sting

    Laredo, TX:
Texas Department of Public Safety officials raided a series of night clubs in Laredo, TX during a sting on July 17-19. Twelve people were arrested for impersonation. Eight were arrested for impersonating a security guard, three were unlawfully carrying weapons, and one was impersonating a police officer. Of the eight who were arrested for impersonating security, one was a convicted child molester and two were illegal aliens, according to the report. DPS detective Tela Mange had this statement to say:'"Unlicensed security guards should be concerned and take this as a warning. We are watching and if you are not licensed, were gonna come and take care of that," Mange said. "Not everyone is meant to be a security guard.'
"Anyone who knows of other businesses that are making unlawful hires should contact DPS investigators at (512) 424-7710, Mange said."

This is a result of enforcement of the impersonation of security officer statute passed in the state of Texas. Many who should not be working in the field of security are being dealt with.
"We appreciate all the hard work you've done, the dedicated hours you have worked, and the lives you have saved. However, since this is your third time being late to work, we are terminating your employment here."
