On days like this, I am glad I am not doing loss pevention or
store security at Best Buy any more.

My niece was telling me that some of the people buying these
PS3, are turning around and selling them on e-bay for $2,000.
Have we all gone completly off the Merry-Go-Round?
    Are people gone fruity?

A similar incident happened in Portland, from what I heard. 2 guys held the line up at gunpoint, and took off with all the $. Haven't heard any other updates on that one.

Additionally, a guy who waited in line at our local Wal-Mart may have gotten himself into some hot water. Seems he was one of these Ebay guys who wanted to turn around and sell it for big profit... Well, unbeknownst to the public, the store only received 10 units. He was #12 in line. For some reason, the moron had already started, and ENDED his Ebay auction before he even had the unit. Somewhere along the lines of $6400 is what he was supposed to be getting, and now he doesn't have a unit to send his winning bidder! Oops!

Someone offered the kid at Target 3 grand for a PS3, I found out tonight. Only reason he didn't do it was because Target locked them down so NOBODY could get to them till launch day. The registers also would not ring them up, instead of a street date violation for the store, it'd be felony retail theft for the kid.

As far as the ebay bid with people bidding millions and thousands... Anyone who bids over $5,000 dollars on a PS3 is getting their account revoked.

I've read several articles about how in Japan, Japanese businessmen are paying Chinese nationalists (Remember, the language calls us all "outsider," except the Chinese, which has several terms which roughly translate to "foreign devil...") to buy up all the PS3s after waiting in line all night.

At the launch ceremony, the CEO of Sony recieved egg on his face because the first person to buy a PS3:

        1. Could not speak Japanese. At all.
        2. Bought 1 system, and no games.
        3. Immediately took it down the block and gave it to his "employer."

Chinese exchange students also showed up in droves. One was noted as saying, "Yeah, man, I'm gonna play the tennis game." On Japanese national TV. There is no Tennis game for the PS3, its for the Wii. He, and his friends, will be reselling them on ebay for up to five times their worth, as will the japanese businessmen.

My local Target had no TPS on launch night. Nor would they call the police. The team members were saying that it was a mad house.

I showed up just before midnight to escort my friend out of the store with his brand new PS3. I, of course, was well-prepared with my SIG Sauer P229 .40 and my baton. Three sheriff's deputies and several Wal-Mart Assets Protection officers were present as well.

A fine example of what's wrong with society today. Materialism and pleasure above all else.
