I'm going to recheck but I believe my hotel pays for the mechanical engineers license required by certain members of our maintenance staff.

It appears we also get so much money per year for professional licensing and advancement.

I get huge discount of our merchandise but since it's womens clothing it is no good to me - my wife is banned from all stores by me as she once bought a $2k for a dress she got for about $900.00 US (even with a discount).

Former retailer allowed a 10% staff discount except some electrical. As execs we were allowed 2 suits a year at 10% discount plus a 20% rebate each 6 months, so my hugo Boss suits for $1300.00 US were on special for about $945 US less discount and my rebate so in a sense I got them for 40% the cost. You were allowed 1 x pair of shoes as well well including your 30% discount and rebate deal but at $300.00 and up for shoes I said thanks but no thanks since they did not sell Hi-Tec Magnums.

Meal discounts in the food court / free coffee

Cardio exercise- last Friday my Wife's friend gave me a pedometer to keep track how much I walk during shift; From 4 pm (I put it on an hour late) until 11 pm, I had walked 8.817 miles...

Occasionally, some of the mall tenants will give us discount certificates to use in their stores

Come warmer weather, there will be no lack of attractive women dressed accordingly, to admire (while still remaining professional that is...)

Meeting people; Being used to working overnights with only other Officers at most times, it's refreshing to be out and about amongst other people who actually engage you in conversation, or the little smile I get when I walk past someone with a small child and the little one says "Look Ma, Policeman!" Not entirely sure if that's a plus for Cops or a minus for Security, but enjoyable to see nonetheless...

FLC - how is the new job going anyway ?

One mall a general sporting goods chain store (not defunct) had a good food court which gave us 1/2 price meals which mades a difference as to where you eat and if you brought meals with you.

Our Casino staff walk in wearing Civvies and are kitted out in uniforms, all meals and drinks are provided and subsidised tickets for transport are included. The turnover is high in security as too many people last a few months and leave for something easier.

Excellent health plan for $57 a month for a family plan.

              A 401k.

Employee purchase plan- employees pay 5% above the wholesale price (more or less) of anything we sell. Also, many manufacturers give discounts for employees of our company above the company's employee discount.

Discounted personal cellphone plans from two different cellphone companies.

              Discounted car rentals.

$10 a day parking at the closest parking lot to us (this is Midtown Manhattan, all day parking is normally $50- $60).

Most of the food places around here give a ten to fifteen dollar discount with free delivery.

Point system based on your sales, redeamable for merchandise or gift cards at different places like Macy's or Amazon.com (your choice, and there is a huge amount to choose from). An average employee makes about $250 to $400 a month from this program, and about $800 to $900 before the holiday system, while an agressive salesman can get $1000 a month and $2500 before the holidays. One guy made $4500 last year's holiday season. Since it's in merchandise I believe it's tax free, too.

One week paid vacation your second year, and two weeks paid vacation after that.

A minimum of 11 hours of overtime every week before the holidays.

All Jewish holidays off with pay, after your 3 month probationary period is up.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, very decent base pay.

In case you're wondering- yes, we are hiring at least 2 people for CCTV sales immediatly. Experienced required, send me a private message.

When I was officed out of Manhattan the company paid for a monthly parking spot at a parking garage just around the corner from my office. That was a great perk, except it was added to my income.

Hey, if the company paid for parking, a lot more employees would drive in instead of taking the bus or train!

It doesn't pay for me to drive in, except for Sunday when the busses are slow- I live in central Jersey.

We get TransitChek, which is a way to take your travel expenses (up to $13000 a year, I think?) as pretax deductions.

I would of taken mass transit, except I had responsibility for 325 stores and I never knew where I might end up. When I thought I might spend the day in the office, I ended up not doing so.

-great holiday pay/ I volunteered to work Thanksgiving and black Friday. Because I will have 40 hours in before those dates and because both dates are paid holidays at my campus, I will get 4 times my normal pay for those 16 hours worked. About $46.00 per hour!!

-after 3 years on job my children can get 94% discount if they attend our university. If they go another college I think a 50% discount is available. But we have no children!

Campus Sec. that sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me - especially the college stuff as I know how much it costs in the USA for college (hence why alot of yanks come here to study for about 20% the cost plus those other benefits soon add up to be workable package for you and your family to live on.

We have deals with notebook computers, parking, school fees and the like which comes off your pre-tax package as some people have gone for cars (dead money) or like me maximum superannuation (401k) at 15% tax compared with 40% or family internet deals or purchasing more holiday leave (not for my level) or they have child care included as well. I went for a car allowance as when I am interstate I am often in a hire car for 5 days a month so the car sits at home collecting dust.

Cops work 4 x 12 hour shifts (2 days and 2 nights) then 4 days off with 6 weeks holidays a year - security have 5 weeks holidays a year if they work the same rotating shifts. Everyone who works full time is given 4 weeks holidays in Australia - could not handle the 1 - 2 weeks common in the USA.
