That explains a lot, Hotel. Nowhere in that fascinating post did you mention armed robberies, MS-13/18th street gang fights, gang meetings, violent domestics, corrupt LEO's, home invasions and general everyday homicide. Oh yeah, some gangs in our zone have directives to harm/kill Security and Police as a means to advance in the group.

All that, is probably why I came to the defense of Rentacop and charged your foxhole as aggressively as I did. I can't help it, it's my nature. I also work housing and train people to stay alive in a violent work environment by being aggressive and proactive. What can I say? It pays the rent!

You have your job to do, Hotel, I respect that. You probably do much more than you get credit for, and I can appreciate that as well. After all, I am in the business.

Be safe, Hotel, no hard feelings. Thanks for the debate. Think of something good for the next round.

    P. S. that's a great one. I want to arm all teachers in this country. that ought to get you thinking!!! Be safe, troop.

You seem to be biased against firearms. You have that right. But when you come here, take off you holier-than-thou badge and weigh in on the issues that you know about and not what you think should or shouldn't be discussed.
      Jimmyhat,

You are right, he does have the right to be pro-gun in these forums. He even has the right to be pro-gun in a job interview...but he won't be hired. It boils down to business. Firearms represent a significant potential liability to business owners in the industry. In the armored car industry they are unavoidable but they certainly don't want a "Loose Cannon" out on the streets wearing their uniform.

Hotel Security was clearly giving good advice on how to avoid giving the wrong impression.

You might try cutting back on the coffee, you seem to have a hair trigger yourself.

Hair-Trigger, me? You're probably right. That comes from spending more than half my life carrying weapons, and stepping in front of bad guys when everyone else is running away.

I don't work for you Dickinson, but you'd be damn fortunate if I did. I don't have to sell that unrealistic security table of organization that you call a business plan. This here is the real thing, the real world where people need real protection. Do you want to talk about the dynamics of real s/o's engaged in the business of actual community protection, or would you like to convince me that your company, with it's sit back and call the police attitude is making a difference in the community. I can't wait to crunch those numbers with you.!!!!

Do you really want to get into this with me, hrdickinson, or is this just a late-night post against a proactive responder in which you feel the need to wax-heroic? Continue to observe and report, Troop, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Whatever you need, Ranger, I'm here to debate. Hotel and I are road marching together just fine. You want to get on the hard-ball? Go ahead and jump in. I'll be getting another cup of coffee.

        N. A., how's my Karma looking?

There is definitly no hard feelings. I love debating. I'm not into horoscopes etc but I was born March 25 which makes me an Aries & yes I do like to butt heads

I've been doing hotel security in Montreal since 1977. Almost as a hobby I read anything I possibly can about my profession. Before the internet came along I used to cut articles from newspapers. When something happened out of town I'd write to the newspaper & have them send me a copy. With all this past research I've only heard of ONE Canadian Hotel Security Officer being shot in all these years. Explains why I'm pro gun control.

I still wonder if there is an error in your bio. Ir says you were born January 1, 1915!
I enforce rules and regulations, not laws.

              Jimmy,

I joined this forum to help people, be helped, educate and learn. A member of this forum asked for some advice and HotelSecurity was kind enough to respond with some intelligent and insightful advice. Your response, in my opinion, was over the edge and confrontational. For the record, my comment about the coffee and a hair trigger were made tongue-in-cheek.

I have never had a weapon pointed at me and I'm not sure how I would respond if I did (maybe that's because people know better). I do, however, appreciate those that have and that do.

Also for the record, I am a political conservative but Jimmy, I have to say, if I was confronted with a situation where I required the help of someone carrying a weapon, I would hope that person was rational.

Let's get back to the spirit of the forum.

In addition Jimmyhat, I don't appreciate the threats and if I were you, I would be very cautious in choosing a debate opponent!

Why are you wasting your time here. You should be running for congress?

Absolutely correct. I was hoping someone here would recognize my true talents. BTW, those traits have kinda kept me alive over the years, forgive me if I don't apologize for it.

Well then, you are truly missing out. it's better than a roller-coaster. Especially when you have the means, ability and fortitude to respond-in-kind. better than sex (don't tell my chic I said that.)

Then you definitely don't want me covering your six. I'm irrational as hell. I've always been good at checkers, though. Will that and a good cover letter get me hired with your "observe and do nothing" company?

                  You'll know if I make a threat.

Unless the member who started this thread worded his question in such a manner that he preferred replies only from armed officers, then Hotel Security has as much right to post his opinion as you do.

Your own words convict you of having a short fuse when you feel strongly about a matter. Rather than being puffed up with pride about being a tough guy who can take on anyone, why not work on self-control. It doesn't take any strength to lash out at someone; but it does require strength to maintain control in the face of adversity.
Security: Freedom from fear; danger; safe; a feeling of well-being. (Webster's)
