  • New Here and Need some Direction.

Hey everyone, new guy here, just came across this website and it looks like a good resource. I am in Missouri and am doing security part time. It is a second job to make extra money and I have been doing it for years but want to make it a bit more steady/professional with this new employer I came across. My question is, I have experience, but I would like to find out of there is a security guard card or something along those lines I can obtain? I am in the process of getting my concealed weapons carry license, which should be done in 2 weeks.

I'm not looking for a degree, 5 years of college for my BA was enough and I don't really have the time for full time schooling. I am an EMT-I and am a good shot, but that and experience is all I have. Does anyone have any direction they can send me or is anyone in the southwest Missouri area? Thanks!

My research tells me that there are no licensing requirements at the state level in Missouri, although several large cities have their own licensing laws. There is no federal licensing which would give you a "transportable" credential.

Whelan Security is the largest security company headquartered in MO. I don't have any contacts there, but you might check them out. It sounds like you are a very qualified young person. Good Luck.
