I carry Mace brand OC. I carry it in case needed for self-defense. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
When I worked in a RTC, I had to do bed checks throughout the night. One night, I was walking into a room that was occupied by four patients they were all sound asleep and my OC fell of my belt, hit the floor, and went off. I booked it out of the room and ran outside. There where two fans going in the room...
...and I could hear them coughing ...
Recently, I have only offered my OC spray..I've found that just seeing the canister is a good deterrent. -
i carry sabre 10% oc. i find it is very effective, recently i sprayed a subject that attempted to attack a lady with a fire extinguisher. after assaulting her by grabbing her breast.when approached he pointed it at me and i sprayed him with a one second burst. he immediately dropped to his knees , i ordered him to place his hands behind his back and i handcuffed him. he was charged with tampering with fire equipment and aggravated assault.Last edited by bigdog; 11-18-2005, 05:35 PM."Get yourself a shovel cause your in deep Sh*t"Comment

I carry 10& SABRE. I carry the personal size but also have a MkIII size at home. So far i have not has to use pepper spray as of yet. But a couple times since i started carrying it since i was 18 i had 2 incidents where it almost became an option to use it. But im glad it did not go that far. I dont want to use it. But if i must use it than i must.

I've carried Akerko Freeze +P (1% OC + 1% CS), First Defense (Yellow Can) California Security Officer Approved 10% OC, Mace Brand OC Foam, Bodyguard, Guardian, Sabre OC/CS, and Sabre Red %10. All were MK 4 canisters.
Of them, lets see... The Freeze +P, a friend asked me to hit him with it. After alot of "um, no," he finally said he'd replace the can, and I hit him with it, 1 second burst. The effects were OK, but it didn't really stop him.
First Defense (Yellow Can) was a joke. My partner and I had gotten some. I had sprayed a juvenile in the face with it, it didn't phase him. My partner sprayed a viscious dog with it, the dog was more concerned that some stuff was up his nose than it was pepper spray.
MSI OC Foam is good. I've been sprayed with it myself, and it was extremely painful, and suffocating. I don't recommend it, however, except in close quarters enviornments, because the range sucks.
BodyGuard and Guardian ... yeah. I replaced both cans after failing to activate during a test spray, the button was WAY too hard to push. But once it pushed, I had a 20 foot cloud of OC mist. Good if you have a strong finger or thumb.
Sabre works. I like Sabre alot. I had discharge a can of Akero Punch II indoors, and I was just like, "Yeah, that burns a little. Where's the Mountain Dew?" After a while, the others present asked me what I was carrying, and we went outdoors, away from the site, and I squirted some on the ground. We couldn't return to that spot for an hour or so.
For those of you carrying Tasers, or have police who do: Know if your OC is flamable. If it is marked "inflamable," or "flamable," then you need to switch to a water based OC, not an alcohol based. Sabre makes products for use with taser, including Sabre H20. Do not end up on the news like my local police did.Some Kind of Commando Leader

I carry Take Down 10% OC MK III when i do carry .I also have First defense 10% OC Foam that i use for crowded times. I am certified through the state for it. As well as baton.Last edited by Arff312; 11-19-2005, 07:55 AM.Robert

What are yu refering to as cop top. I have only seen the flip top which makes sense.If it wasnt for that there are many times it would have accidentally discharged on my belt and that would suck.Originally posted by bigdogRobert

Cop Top is the simple push button on the top, like shaving cream. I know of at least one person who had a cop top actuator on their can of Freeze +P, which they were trained to keep upside down in their holder to keep the o-ring seal wet with solution, who accidently discharged it. It was sitting in the one o'clock position on their rig, and the OC/CS came into contact with their mucus membranes. He was heard screaming for several minutes while decontaminating himself in the men's head.
OC is a pain compliance tool. Depending on how the OC is deployed (Spray, Streamer, Fogger), the target's breathing, vision, and cognative abilities are affected. People can fight through the effects of OC, most law enforcement officers are required to run a "gauntlet" of various strikes, then take a suspect to the ground and handcuff them, after direct OC exposure. This is documented to demonstrate how well the OC affects an officer, and so that the officer can articulate in court the effects of OC in an excessive force suit.

Some of us use to carry MK3 OC spray, some others impact weapons (trained and certified). But now we all have been told only our firearms are it. Kind of sucks really. The bosses will not say why. But we are all kind of worried now. Talk has it that one of our clients is considering us to work ATM escort calls unarmed. Get this, to save money! WTH?
