This will only apply to a fraction of the security officers here. By that I mean the professionals who work closely with law enforcement.
You can easily conceal a handcuff key, or a small knife or shank in that compartment. Most states allow security officers to search for weapons when you arrest. While you are conducting your search you might come across drugs or paraphenalia, in which case it is not admissable in court (depending on the state). When the police arrive, they may or may not give you the third degree that had you waited for them, they would of found it and been able to cite. Remind them that you want to go home at the end of the night as much as they do.
