Varga, if you're planning to work in VA, Fed. or not ( Fed. contracts in this state require Virginia security registration . Even if you work a in a U.S. fed. building, armed, you still must be trained and registered by state standards) then you need to become an expert in all things DCJS, the VA Department of Criminal Justice Services. Security, Law Enforcement, and everything that has to do with protection falls under the DCJS umbrella.
Your Security training under DCJS will mimic that of all Police Academies (albeit shorter in duration) within the state. My own, most important certifications were completed at the VSP academy in Richmond. That's how close the Security/LE relationship is in VA.
Here ya go, Troop. Learn it, live it! Good luck.

Personal Protection Specialist. Most off-duty cops and private military contractors call it PPS, EP, etc. Mainly because those are the guys that the PMCs are hiring for this kind of stuff.

PPS in Virginia
Are there many jobs for this in the State and what are the General requirements for the job(company not state) also who may carry a firearm, the state apparently says 18 but I doubt this, can anyone confirm. Also can someone waive certain parts of the training for military training, if not it doesn't really matter.
Also Training what is the average cost, and what do you have to buy for it. ANyone recommend a vcertain school?
Any other info will be helpful
Thanks,
