  • question for everyone.

I have been thinking that we should have a "order" or "assocaition" of sorts for security officers in the USA, it would not be a "union", but rather a volunteer assocation/order created to benefit the individual officers, by offering "seminars/training/newsletters/industry improvement ideas/updates on state security laws/and etc.............. and possible "some" small benes like discounts to certian stores and or "small" health benes if the assocation was to get large enough and was able to fund itself through donations and or membership fees"

if anyone is interested in helping spearhead this idea let me know like i said it would not be a union just a assocation or officers or a "order"

or i can try to solo this idea :P

or let me know if you think this is a bad idea..

all members would be issued a "card" with identifaction numbers that would also include a expy date, which would entitle them to such membership as "lifetime" (reserved for corp donors" "honorary" (private donors) "member"(verified security officers)

There's a bunch of them out there. Google for "Security Officer Assocation."

I'd suggest signing on with an established one before trying to do it yourself. The thought crossed my mind awhile back, but I eventually settled on helping NAPSOA to organize and grow. NAPSOA as in the Assocation, not the company.

Feel free to ask questions. I have a feeling you're going to want to. For those following...
Yes, NAPSOA.com is my next project.
Yes, it will actually talk about the assocation.
Yes, it will tell you how to join.
Yes, it will contain more than a Yahoo! Group.
Yes, it will make good on some of the promises given.

Which ones, I don't know. I really don't know what all has been promised. But I do know what I'm doing with the website and what I want it to do.

Joining a Yahoo! Group is no different than joining this forum, in my opinion. I'm on about 20 of them. Same people, different topic, basically. An organization is more than the Yahoo! Group it uses for communication.

Also, in making an association, there are the issues of setting up a non-profit corporation in some state, electing officials, etc. Or, the other way, setting up a for-profit corporation in some state, electing officials, etc.

You'll notice that I don't turn this into a NAPSOA membership drive.

Yeah. Isn't it? It looks like they changed the website a bit.

... that won't last long, I've started working on the site in local cache, and selected the various components for it.
