My company is really a network of in house security working for a check cashing company, and my brother is the boss, so I have great flexibility in my choice of uniform. I have chosen to go with a look that is quite similar in appearance to what patrol officers from the local police department wear; navy blue class A shirt (Short sleeve in warm weather and long sleeve in cooler weather), navy blue BDUs, navy blue hat (baseball cap in warm weather and skull cap in cooler weather), and body armor in a black external carrier that has a security patch on the back, a badge patch over the left breast, and my name sewn above the right breast (you wouldn't believe how much I get mistaken for a police officer!). My duty belt is nylon with all nylon accessories, with the exception of my cell phone pouch, which is leather, the rotating baton holder, which is a hard plastic, and the keepers, which are basketweave.Last edited by tattedupboy; 10-27-2007, 04:23 PM. -
im working for a in-house steel recycling center security right now we got nickel grey shirt and black pant but we will change for TRU black jacket and khaki pant also TRU . We have found that khaki work better in environement with dirt mud and rust , the patch will be with velcro back like on military uniform . I think for a environment like where i work you dont need to have a class A uniform with Tie and thing like that and we work only on night and week end in a rural zone so we dont have public or visitor to scare with too agressif uniformComment

We wear Black Class "A"s and Class "B" uniforms to include BDUs, generally speaking ( SSG). We have some officers assigned to specialty units ( ATO, K9, Dive Team) that differ slightly.

Midnight Navy polyester pants and shirts, leather duty belts with brass hardware, goldtone nametags and badges, and black campaign hats with black/gold hat cords for those who are authorized to wear them.
Geez, after looking at my avatar, I really oughta take an updated pic of our uniforms, seeing as that pic is almost a year old...Last edited by flashlightcop509; 10-28-2007, 02:45 PM.“Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left”

I hate it so much."Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. When I was running CI on your company, I found it interesting that the basic philosophy of encouraging positive interactions with community residents was coupled with the use of such a paramilitary type of uniform. There just seems to be some disconnect there, IMHO."Every betrayal begins with trust." - Brian Jacques

Im not so much against the color black, but sorta. In our facility, black is just an overtly threatening color, which I dont like... what cheeses me the most is just the unprofessional look of our uniform. I mean, nothing says security, nothing says nothing. Its just a plain jane black. And then there's no uniformity... I typically wear a pair of professional black cargo pants, a black undershirt and a black polo shirt with a single shirt pocket. There's other guards who wear combos such as black dockers with a black sweater; black denim pants with a black cotton "fruit of the loom" t-shirt; black BDUs with a black short sleeve BDU top; etc.... there is just no uniformity and we look like s***."Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. Most s/o's in Australia get the k-mart attire - cheap and nasty or just clones of other companies. We are NOT permitted to mimic any police uniform for fear of mistaken identification or impersonation (ie. 2 tone light blue shirt and blue trousers). 1 company I worked for had great looking uniforms - so similar to EMT staff (ink blue trousers and white shirt) that you NEVER got hassled when in uniform and off duty. But the trouble with white shirts and the occassional dirty sites was the black dust on your hands giving you nipple marks on your button pockets on your white shirts.
My own company had black or very dark blue uniforms as they looked good, hid the dirt and any sauce or dinner stains when on duty. I found some dark grey NAVY overalls in a surplus store that were brand new and had them commercially died black for $150.00 US for 20 pairs of overalls to look good and these were used for all senior teams members who may get called to duty at short notice and for our K9 contractors."Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer" Sun TzuComment
